Cantate Chamber Singers, under the artistic direction of Gisele Becker since l994, is a chamber vocal ensemble based in Montgomery County. Cantate presents a three concert series at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesa and other area venues. Cantate performs a capella and accompanied works spanning five centuries, specializing in commissioning and premiering new music. Cantate's programs also include a Young Composers' Contest, a two-year Composer-in-Residence appointment, and a partnership with Thomas Pyle Middle School.
Cantate holds auditions in early June for the following season. An audition announcement usually appears in the Washington Post's Weekend Magazine at the end of May. Singers interested may telephone at that time for an appointment.
