This popular performance-lecture series presents an entire cycle of 16 Beethoven String Quartets in historically unique format invented by the instructor, Dr. Joel Berman, U. of MD. Professor of Music, retired. All the quartets are performed live by the Beethoven-Cycle Quartet.
Each performance is preceded by a lecture outlining structural features that are unique to the works and which serve to unify each piece from beginning to end. Outlines of the quartets will be distributed to be followed during the performance so you can see what is happening in the music as the notes fly by. No prerequisites. The series appeals to music lovers of all levels, from trained musicians to listeners who cannot read music. Minimum enrollment needed: 18 full-paid.
